Roma could release Nicolas Andre Burdisso on a free transfer this summer to avoid paying his €4.5m per season wages.
According to the Corriere della Sera, the 32-year-old defender is considering a return to Argentina.
None of the clubs in his homeland are prepared to match the €4.5m wages, so the Giallorossi could simply terminate his contract by mutual consent.
This would make Burdisso a free agent able to choose and negotiate without Roma’s input.
He has been at the Stadio Olimpico since 2009 and before that was at Inter from 2004, so has been in Serie A for almost a decade.
