According to multiple reports in Italy, Roma directors will meet Lorenzo Pellegrini’s agent next week, but the two parties do not seem close to reaching an agreement over a new contract for the midfielder.

Both Sky Sport Italia and Il Corriere dello Sport report Pellegrini’s agent will meet Roma directors Tiago Pinto next week.

The contract of the Italy international expires in June and while Il Corriere dello Sport claim José Mourinho is pushing to extend the player’s deal, Sky Sport Italia maintains the two parties are nowhere close to reaching an agreement.

Pellegrini has a €30m release clause which will be cancelled from his contract if the two parties shake hands on a new deal.

Premier League giants Tottenham and Liverpool were linked with signing the Italian midfielder over the summer.

Tottenham director Fabio Paratici is a long-time admirer of Pellegrini, having already tried to sign him during his time at Juventus.

José Mourinho thinks highly of the 25-year-old and claimed the midfielder is “so smart” he would “play three Pellegrini” had he had the chance.

  1. As a Juve fan I would love to see Juve try to sign Pellegrini and Kessie, and take advantage of their contract situations at their current clubs. What a midfield that would be in addition to having Locatelli and Rabiot; that would massively improve Juve’s Achilles heel. But I am realistic, there’s no way that the donkeys in charge would ever think to be so bold in the transfer market.

  2. True Sammy, but a great midfield would allow way less pressure on their own goallie . I hate to say it but Juve would be hard to break with that mid.

  3. I’m amazed no one has been willing to throw down 30m for this guy over the years. So talented, ticks so many boxes…
