Roma are reportedly set to offer Manchester United target Kevin Strootman a new contract extension.

The midfielder has been sidelined since rupturing his cruciate ligament in a match against Napoli last season, but has returned to training this week with indications of a late November return.

With this in site, Rome’s Il Messaggero reports that the Giallorossi are set to offer the former PSV man an improved contract.

The 24-year-old is believed to be on a salary of around €1.7m per season, but the publication reports that interest from Manchester United will lead the capital club to offer him an increased salary.

The newspaper also gives an estimated timeframe for Strootman’s return to first team action, pinpointing a trip to Bergamo to face Atalanta on November 22 as the most likely date.
