Reports are growing that Gonçalo Guedes has asked to leave Valencia and join Jose Mourinho at Roma, but negotiations are needed to bring down the €40m asking price.

The 25-year-old Portugal international is under contract at the Mestalla until June 2024, but his situation is increasingly tense and Sportitalia claim he has put in a transfer request for this summer.

Calciomercato.it suggest that Guedes has now given the all-clear for a switch to Roma, where he would work with Portuguese tactician Mourinho.

The problem is the €40m asking price, so the Giallorossi are hoping to bring that down with bonuses, but also by including a player as part of the exchange.

There are several players who are not part of Roma’s plans who could be used in the deal, such as Amadou Diawara and Carles Perez.

Guedes plays primarily on the left wing, but can also work in a supporting role or on the right.

The former Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain player scored 13 goals and provided six assists in his 42 competitive games for Valencia this term.
