Roma are interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to reports in Italy.
Jose Mourinho has made signing a new midfielder his priority this summer with Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic and Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka among the players linked with a move.
And Gazzetta dello Sport report Luiz is the new favourite, as he is open to a move following the arrival of Boubacar Kamara to Villa from Marseille.
The report adds Luiz is likely to be worth at least €30 million, if not €35m.
At 24, Luiz still has a lot of potential, while he also has the experience of having played at Manchester City, while he also has nine caps for Brazil.
Luiz started his career in his native Brazil with Vasco da Gama before moving to City in 2017, though he was immediately loan out to Girona, who are part of the City Group.
He returned after two seasons and was transferred to Villa for €17 million.
Luiz was also part of the Brazil squad which won a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
