Roma are said to be returning to Brazil this summer in their search for a new centre-back, with Rhodolfo and Saimon both on their list.

The Giallorossi picked up compatriot Dodo from Corinthians earlier this summer and are heavily linked with full-back Bruno Uvini too.

They are now reportedly back in South America to continue negotiations with Sao Paulo for €10m-rated centre-back Rhodolfo.

However, the asking price is understood to be a barrier to operations and sporting director Walter Sabatini is now looking at alternatives, still in Brazil.

Gremio’s 21-year-old Saimon [pictured] has been identified as a possible option instead. Saimon is a versatile defender who can play at full-back and centre-back and was a member of Brazil’s 2011 South American Youth Championship-winning team. It is reported that Milan and Inter are also tracking this youngster.
