Roma expressed their condolences for Mattia Giani, a 26-year-old footballer who died after suffering a heart attack on the same day as Evan Ndicka’s health scare.

The Castelfiorentino player tragically passed away on Sunday after suffering from a cardiac arrest followed by a seizure during a competitive Eccellenza match (Italy’s 5th division) against Lanciotto Campi.

A few hours later, Ndicka collapsed on the pitch during the second half of Roma’s Serie A clash with Udinese, causing distress and fears. He was rushed to hospital and is currently in a stable condition, but the match was abandoned regardless.

Roma condolences to Giani

The Giallorossi shared their condolences for Giani in a post on their Twitter page, writing: “AS Roma offer our condolences on the tragic death of Mattia Giani following an on-field medical emergency. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone at Castelfiorentino United.”

In a tragic twist of fate, the 26-year-old Castelfiorentino player passed away on the anniversary of Piermario Morosini’s death. The former Liverono midfielder suffered a heart attack during a Serie B match against Pescara on April 14, 2012.
