According to multiple reports in Italy, Olympique de Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara is Roma‘s primary target for the midfield in January.

Kamara, 22, sees his Marseille contract expire at the end of the season. He is one of the regular starters at the Stade Velodrome, with 20 appearances across all competitions.

José Mourinho has been looking for a new midfielder since the summer and Kamara appears to be his No.1 transfer target for the winter transfer window.

According to Calciomercato.com, the excellent relationship between Roma and Marseille could make negotiations more straightforward, even the asking price for the 22-year-old is in the region of €20m.

Cengiz Under and Pau Lopez moved to South France from Roma in the summer and Amadou Diawara is among Marseille’s targets in January.

Diawara could be offered in a swap deal to lower Kamara’s price.

Meantime, Roma are close to securing the services of Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal and continue to monitor Inter‘s Matias Vecino and Florian Grillitsch of Hoffenheim.
