Roma defender Chris Smalling has reportedly suffered a thigh injury in training and risks missing the first games of the new campaign.

The Giallorossi are set to debut in the UEFA Conference League against Trabzonspor on Thursday, but might have to cope without the former Manchester United centre-back.

Smalling, who signed a three-year deal with Roma ahead of 2020-21, after a successful stint on loan in 2019-20, has struggled with a series of injuries since making his move permanent.

The 31-year-old seems set to miss the first game against the Turkish side and risks being out against Fiorentina when Serie A 2021-22 starts this weekend too.

Il Tempo reports the former England international suffered a flexor injury in his left thigh and had to stop training today.

  1. Every sign for Vlahovic to score a hatrick(if stays) against a shite defense and unprepared red&yellow .

  2. Smalling cannot stay healthy he is a massive massive liability on the books. He’s healthy for 10-15 games a year it seems.

  3. Smalling cursed himself. He said in an interview that since he went vegan he’s been much better, feeling like he is at his peak physically and mentally. Eat a salciccia sandwich, you’ll be right as rain in no time!
