Roma have put a €70m cash price-tag on Nicolò Zaniolo, claim the Gazzetta dello Sport, while Juventus hope to include Weston McKennie in the deal.

The Bianconeri’s interest in Zaniolo goes back a long way and multiple sources have said a swoop is expected this summer, especially now that Paulo Dybala is leaving as a free agent.

Zaniolo’s tactical versatility intrigues coach Max Allegri, as the Italy international is able to play in various different roles in both attack and midfield.

His contract with Roma runs to June 2024 and the Gazzetta dello Sport claims the asking price is €70m in cash.

This is partly because they also owe Inter a 15 per cent cut of the transfer as part of the deal that originally brought him to the Stadio Olimpico in exchange for Radja Nainggolan.

Calciomercato.com note that Juve tried to include McKennie in part-exchange for Zaniolo, along with €50m cash, but the Giallorossi are seemingly not interested.

Zaniolo also has interest from abroad, but Juventus hope to rely on the same determination that saw Vlahovic, Federico Chiesa and Manuel Locatelli turn down more lucrative proposals in order to push through a Turin switch.

Zaniolo was a childhood Juventus supporter and his agent has said several times that Roma are not even discussing a contract extension.

  1. “the same determination” Ill write it because you cant, ILLEGAL PRE_CONTRACT AGREEMENTS. And yes I am certain they have the same with Zaniolo just like Chiesa and Vlahovic, BUT, they still won’t win the Champions League!

  2. I loved Zaniolo prior to his knee injuries but it’s really difficult for any player with bummed knees to bounce back to their previous self. Zaniolo is forced to change his game to suit his injuries, much like a veteran learns how to do this after years of wear and tear on the body. This is a good sale for Roma. I get he’s still a young man and he’s maturing but I am not going to miss the headache of having him on the team in my opinion anyway… Wishing him all the best at Juve and for the national team.

  3. A circular has gone round to all clubs now which says…

“When Juve comes, charge them a minimum of €70m regardless if the player is worth it or not. They will pay”

  4. Soule is much a better fit for Juve’s 4-3-3 Formation to play on the right wing alongside with Vlahovic and Chiesa next season.

  5. He has two years left on the contract, as stated by the article. Juve won’t get him for free next season.

  6. Better take pogba for free and pay him that big salary than give roma 70 millions, its not clever, only offer can be with players included in exchange, because with these 70 millions we can even go for Felix or we can take curent best player in the world Salah, this would be crazy if DV7 in center and Chiesa going by left flank and Salah storm in right side, this would be crazy but I dont understand where we can take money from if we always drop from CL so early and always have minus asmuo 200 milions in yearly balance?

  7. If you don’t have money, don’t pretend like you do. 70 in cash is 70 in cash. What the hell we want to do with a player like Winston?? Ohh, wait.. Zaniolo will reject Juve anyway LOL

  8. Forza Roma! This would be a great piece of business for us. It only takes for either knee to pop again and he’s done. The €70m, 15% to Inter and we can invest in a badly needed midfielder.

  9. @Forza Juve, “I dont understand where we can take money from if we always drop from CL so early and always have minus asmuo 200 milions in yearly balance?” -This is because Juventus somehow always receives a cash injection from Exor, despite it being a public company, and the only way that is possible is Exor is majority owned by Giovanni Agnelli, B.V, a privately held company controlled by the Agnelli family. So the secret is to create a holding company that owns a bunch of other revenue streams and is controlled by a private family trust to inject your money losing football club with funds from those other revenue streams. Simple.

  10. I like Zaniolo a lot but I would accept 50m + McKennie in a heartbeat. Weston is a really good player and another 50m on top for a player who tore both his cruciale ligaments already?

  11. Another dumb Juve move. McKennie has actually played well, is young and has continued growth potential. The trade Juve should be looking to make is Bernardeschi, Rabiot and 30k for Zaniolo otherwise no deal.

  12. I hate to say it but Zaniolo is barely worth half of 70m at the moment. I was a huge fan but both ACLs takes a heavy toll on any players and thus far he has not recovered his previous form or fearless explosiveness. I hope he proves me wrong and adapts his game but the truth is he is not presently anywhere near a 70m talent.

  13. Is the extra zero a joke? Injury man with 2 goals all season. Worth about 17 million… at least until he starts performing for Roma and Italy! Juve would be UTTERLY INSANE to pay any more than 30 million, they really would. Players like Antony are available for less than that, and even Mo Salah is a remote possibility.
