According to France Football, Leicester City will let Riyad Mahrez go in January for the right offer, so Roma are ready to try again.
The Giallorossi made no secret of their attempts to sign the Algeria international over the summer, but baulked at the €50m price-tag.
A final offer of €40m was tabled in August, but director of sport Monchi eventually gave up and opted for Sassuolo forward Gregoire Defrel instead.

He has proved to be a disappointment and suffered from injury problems too, so news of Leicester loosening their grip on Mahrez could prompt a rethink.
Roma aren’t the only options for him, as Arsenal and Napoli are also showing an interest in his characteristics.
He turns 27 next month and plays primarily on the right wing, but can also work on the left or behind the strikers.
This season, Mahrez has found the net eight times in 24 competitive games, with eight assists.
Crucially for Roma and Napoli, he is available for European tournaments.
