Roma are building their season on goals from set plays, especially corners, as the statistics show just how crucial these situations are to their results.
It was evident already with two late goals on dead-ball situations to draw 2-2 with Milan, then last night they flew into a 2-0 lead within the opening six minutes thanks to Roger Ibanez and Tammy Abraham headers on Paulo Dybala corners.
That took the tally for Jose Mourinho’s side in Serie A this term to seven goals from corner kicks alone, plus two on indirect free kicks and three converted penalties.
It means 43 per cent of all their total 28 Serie A goals this season were the product of set plays.
This is despite the fact the Giallorossi are only in seventh place for the number of corners taken, totalling 100.
Roma are also not the most prolific from set plays in Serie A this season, as Juventus take that title with 12, but their percentage is lower from a total 30 goals.
Juve have scored four of their last six goals from dead-ball situations.
