According to Swiss media, Shaqiri was in negotiations with Liverpool, but the talks broke down.
This would give Roma the upper hand and they will now increase the pressure to sign the forward.
Rome-based newspaper Il Tempo even suggests they have agreed basic personal terms with Shaqiri.
The Giallorossi have been very active on the market for their return to the Champions League, bringing in the likes of Juan Manuel Iturbe from Verona, Fenerbahce’s Salih Ucan and Ashley Cole from Chelsea.
