Roma were left concerned after Paulo Dybala was forced off in the Coppa Italia derby defeat to Lazio, but tests have ruled out serious injury for the Argentine star.

The 30-year-old Argentinian forward was forcibly replaced by Jose Mourinho at the half-time break of the Derby della Capitale on Wednesday afternoon, having seemingly suffered a muscle injury in his leg. He was replaced by Lorenzo Pellegrini as Roma went on to lose 1-0.

Whilst Dybala has proven himself a key part of Mourinho’s Roma squad over the last 18 months, numerous minor injuries have frustrated his time in the Italian capital. Since the summer of 2022, he has missed at least 29 matches through various physical issues.

As highlighted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Dybala underwent a round of medical tests including an MRI today, which confirmed that he’d only suffered a muscular overload, avoiding any serious injuries to his left flexor.

Despite the good news, the 30-year-old still isn’t expected to join the Giallorossi squad for the coming league clash with Milan.
