Roma are relieved to discover that Paulo Dybala is struggling with fatigue rather than an injury after his half-time substitution in the Europa League league phase match against Athletic Club on Thursday night.

Roma relief after Dybala checks

La Joya lined up as a starter in Ivan Juric’s 3-4-2-1 system, alongside Tommaso Baldanzi and behind Artem Dovbyk, but was taken off after the first 45 minutes and replaced by compatriot Matias Soule.

Dybala has since reported for medical checks, and, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are no concerns about a new injury for the Argentine star.

The 30-year-old had suffered a series of knock after a few strong challenges from Athletic Club, and has a bit of fatigue in his legs, but that is the extent of the damage, and the player is not expected to face an extended period on the sidelines.

Still, Dybala is expected to be handed a rest for Sunday’s Serie A clash against Venezia at the Stadio Olimpico. He is still in contention to be among the matchday squad, but is only likely to appear as a substitute if he does come on.
