Gianluca Petrachi has been formally released from his role as Roma sporting director, less than a month after he was suspended.
Petrachi was suspended on June 18, amidst talk of a complete breakdown in his relationship with Roma President James Pallotta.
Now, Il Tempo reports the process to release him has been completed after the club sent him a letter of dismissal.
It comes after the Giallorossi’s board of directors had voted unanimously to dispense with him on June 26.
The 51-year-old, who only arrived from Torino last summer, has since been replaced by Morgan De Sanctis on an interim basis.
The matter is now likely to go to court, given Petrachi has so far rejected Roma’s offers of a severance package.
Instead, he is holding out for the remaining two years of his contract – worth €2.4m net plus bonuses – to be paid in full.
