Roma are reportedly taking some time out to consider whether they want to spend €8m on 33-year-old Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

The shot-stopper is first choice at the Stadio Olimpico for new coach Jose Mourinho.

However, his contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers only runs to June 2022 and the Premier League club want €8m for his transfer.

According to Sportitalia, Roma are reconsidering their options and looking at other candidates, because they believe €8m is excessive for a 33-year-old in the final season of his contract.

He kept 10 clean sheets in 37 Premier League games this term, conceding 51 goals.

Roma have also been linked with other goalkeepers, such as Udinese’s Juan Musso and Pierluigi Gollini of Atalanta.

The Giallorossi have if anything an excess of players for this role, but none of them are considered suited to Mourinho’s team.

Pau Lopez is not their first choice, while Robin Olsen is returning to base after his loan spell at Everton.
