Roma are working to whittle down their squad to make room for Davide Frattesi, sending Gonzalo Villar to Monza and Amadou Diawara to Galatasaray.

The Giallorossi have been in negotiations for Frattesi for weeks, but cannot complete the €25m move until they have first sold some of their players.

This has prompted frustration from coach Jose Mourinho and the supporters, so director Tiago Pinto is working hard to create space.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal is imminent for Gonzalo Villar to join Monza on loan with obligation to buy for €10m if they avoid relegation to Serie B.

The same source maintains Tiago Pinto met with Galatasaray today in Milan to discuss the sale of midfielder Diawara to the Turkish side.

Diawara is not part of Mourinho’s plans and has been left behind in Rome while the squad travelled to Portugal for their pre-season training camp.

Once those moves are completed, they should be able to secure the transfer of Frattesi from Sassuolo.
