However, Il Tempo claims there has been ‘an abrupt slowdown’ in negotiations as Giallorossi sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is prioritising moves for Nkoulou and Alderweireld.

Petrachi took Nkoulou to Toro in 2017, and the Cameroonian has been a constant in the heart of their defence for the last two seasons.

The Lupi are reported to have come in with an offer of €10m plus Diego Perotti for the stopper.

As for Alderweireld, the newspaper claims a meeting has been scheduled for Friday between Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy and Roma’s London contact Franco Baldini.

The Belgian has a £25m (€27.8m) release clause, but it is only in effect until the last two weeks of the English transfer window, which shuts on August 8.
