Roma have had a little joke at Feyenoord’s expense after overcoming the Dutch side in the Europa League for the second season in succession.

The Giallorossi qualified for the Europa League Round of 16 on penalties, after both legs ended 1-1. They had also beaten Feyenoord 4-2 on aggregate at the quarter-final stage of the same competition last season.

Roma also won the inaugural edition of the UEFA Conference League against Feyenoord in 2022 under Jose Mourinho.

Roma legend Francesco Totti had pulled the names out of the hat in the Europa League knockout draw in 2023.

When Feyenoord made it to the Champions League and Roma remained in the second tier tournament, the Dutch side posted the image with a mocking response: “See you next seas.. oh.”

Of course, they did end up crossing paths again when Feyenoord finished third in their Champions League group – behind Lazio, funnily enough – and dropped into the Europa League.

Here, for the third year in a row, Roma emerged victorious.

Roma have since dug the post up again, and have posted it to their official social media channels along with the caption: “That’s awkward.”

  1. Do you homework, that photo was posted after Feyenoord’s Champions League draw. It was mocking Roma because Roma stayed in the Europa League.
