Nicolo Zaniolo is open to joining Galatasaray following their approach last night but it won’t be easy to agree a deal for the Roma forward, Gianluca Di Marzio details.

The 23-year-old Italian forward has been excluded from Jose Mourinho’s project in the Italian capital after trying to force through a move away from the club in last month’s transfer window.

Zaniolo has now taken a one-month leave of absence, producing a medical certificate and citing stress. He was confronted by some unhappy Giallorossi fans outside his home in Rome in recent weeks, prompting him to leave the city for La Spezia.

As reported by Di Marzio, Galatasaray are currently negotiating a deal with Roma for Zaniolo and are ahead of local rivals Fenerbahce, who are also keen on a move.

The Turkish giants have accepted the Giallorossi’s request for a definitive transfer but the two parties still need to agree a price. The 23-year-old is open to the move but still needs to agree personal terms with the club.

Currently, this is difficult due to the issue of the release clause; Galatasaray would like to include a higher release clause than the one requested by Zaniolo and his entourage.

Work is currently ongoing to try and complete the move before Turkey’s transfer window closes on February 8. Whilst Zaniolo is happy to join the Istanbul outfit, he’s also willing to wait until June for a move, as his priority is still Milan.
