Gianluca Di Marzio notes that Roma have started to explore a move for Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata.

The Giallorossi have been active in the centre forward market for the entirety of the summer, needing to bolster their frontline following the cruciate ligament injury suffered by Tammy Abraham.

Roma have been linked with a long list of strikers in recent weeks, including Alvaro Morata and Gianluca Scamacca, and the situation has clearly started to frustrate Jose Mourinho, who jokingly shared a photo of him and the squad hugging an imaginary striker recently.

Di Marzio details how Roma contacted Atalanta yesterday to discuss a possible move for Luis Muriel, but during this conversation their focus switched to Zapata.

The 32-year-old Colombian striker has entered the last year of his contract with la Dea and could realistically leave the club off the back of his disappointing campaign. Last term, he only netted two goals in 27 total appearances.
