The talented midfielder will face the Azzurri tonight at 20:00 UK time in his Euro 2016 opener.

A starter in one of Europe's most highly rated international teams, Witsel has been the object of desire for both Roma and Milan.

“Witsel is a player that Spalletti knows very well, as he coached him when they worked together at Zenit St Petersburg,” the player's agent Riccardo Napolitano told Rete Sport. “This is an advantage for Roma.

“The departure of [Miralem] Pjanic leads us to believe that the Belgian could be signed, but so far there have been no official offers.

“The Giallorossi's problem is certainly related to the financial aspect, considering the economic problems at the club. Witself is worth more than €40m for Zenit.”
