Jose Mourinho will serve a two-match suspension for his explosive outburst during Roma’s 2-1 loss to Cremonese on Tuesday evening.

Mourinho had been dismissed following an altercation with the fourth official at the beginning of the second half with Roma down 1-0.

After watching the majority of the game from the stands of the Stadio Giovanni Zini, the Giallorossi coach decided to take his complaints up with the match officials in their dressing room after the final whistle.

Despite a 71st-minute equaliser from Leonardo Spinazzola, Roma fell behind again to a Daniel Ciofani penalty in the 83rd, which was enough to give La Cremo their first win in Serie A in 26 years.

The Giudice Sportivo has now confirmed Mourinho will serve a two-game ban, starting with Sunday evening’s game against Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

The official Serie A press release states that Mourinho faces sanctions: “For having contested a refereeing decision in a forceful and provocative manner in the second minute of the second half and repeating this behaviour at the time of sending off.”

“Furthermore, for entering the referees’ dressing room and addressing the fourth official with offensive expressions and inferences at the end of the match.”

As well as the match against Juve, Mourinho will also be suspended for Sassuolo’s visit to Rome on March 12.
