Gonzalo Villar’s adventure with Roma has almost come to an end with a move to Getafe on the horizon.

The 23-year-old Spanish midfielder has not played a single minute in Serie A this season after failing to convince coach Jose Mourinho of his qualities and so he’s finally ready to leave the Italian capital.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the talks between Roma and Getafe are nearing completion and Villar’s move to the Spanish club is only a step away from completion now. Things could be fully tied up later this week.

The Spaniard has made six appearances this season in the UEFA Conference League, for a total of 204 minutes. He featured heavily for Mourinho’s predecessor Paulo Fonseca but did not convince the former Porto and Chelsea man this campaign.

The Giallorossi have already lined up at replacement, with Porto’s Sergio Oliveira to undergo medicals with the club tomorrow before signing on a six-month loan deal.

  1. Watching him play last year, I thought he was pretty good and full of potential. He was controlling the midfield pretty well actually, but if Mourinho prefers the 30 year old Porto bench warmer (a fine player, but still…) then it’s not that strange. I mean, if Mourinho can discard youngsters like KDB, Mo Salah and Lukaku then I guess he can do it to Villar, too!

  2. @ milan fan – all 3 players you mention wanted to play constantly which Chelsea could not guarantee – they were Euro Champs in around that time with a really strong squad. You cannot blame either party.

What is the salary of Roma’s starters compared to Milan’s reserves?

Now, how many goals did Milan reserves score against Roma’s starters & how many goals Roma’s starters scored against them?

  5. Guess who the agent of that Porto player is 😉
