Roma have issued a statement rejecting reports that they are in talks with Marquinhos over a new deal at the Stadio Olimpico.
“AS Roma wish to announce that there are no negotiations underway for the renewal of Marcos Aoás Corrêa’s contract, which is set to expire in 2017,” they underlined.
“Furthermore, the player has not made any such request on the matter.”
The 18-year-old, linked with Spanish giants Barcelona, was rumoured to be in discussions regarding an extension that would see his salary rise as a result.
The Brazilian centre-back has been a success at Roma in his first season in Italian football. The stopper, signed from Corinthians, has played in 23 League games this term.
