Rick Karsdorp recently broke back into Jose Mourinho’s Roma squad after his spell on the sidelines, but now will again be out of action after suffering a painful injury.

The 28-year-old Dutch fullback publicly fell out with the Portuguese coach earlier in the season, being accused of unprofessionalism. He seemed destined to leave the club in January, but a move away failed to materialise and he eventually mended things with Mourinho, who allowed him back into the Roma setup.

Karsdorp appeared in Roma’s last seven consecutive matches across Serie A and the Europa League, but will now be sent to the sidelines once again.

Calciomercato.com details how Karsdorp suffered a fracture to his nasal septum after a painful collision in Roma’s Europa League win over Real Sociedad, an injury that will force him to undergo an operation.

The 28-year-old has been ruled out of the upcoming Derby della Capitale against Lazio and will likely return after the international break sporting a protective face mask.
