Roma told Real Madrid and Barcelona to forget Miralem Pjanic, as his €45m release clause isn’t valid mid-season.
The Spanish giants have been entranced by the Bosnian midfielder, who is having the most prolific campaign of his career.
According to Il Messaggero newspaper, Roma President James Pallotta slammed the door on any January proposals for the 25-year-old, who has scored nine goals and provided six assists in 21 competitive games this season.

Interested parties cannot look to activate the €45m release clause in his contract either, as that is only valid over the summer months.
That means Pjanic will stay at Roma at least until the end of the season, unless of course the Giallorossi change their minds.
