Roma are again being linked with a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and could be preparing a move for this January.
The Giallorossi have previously been linked with a move for the shot-stopper this season, with current goalkeeping options at the club being 37-year-old Morgan De Sanctis and back-up Lukasz Skorupski.
Reports today are once again pairing the capital club with a bid for the Chelsea man, who currently finds himself behind Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge.
Now La Repubblica is reporting that the Giallorossi could submit a bid for Cech as soon as January, giving the goalkeeper time to acclimatise to life in Italy before taking over the gloves on a permanent basis from De Sanctis next season.
Cech – capped 111 times by his country – is relatively young in goalkeeping terms, and the newspaper believes the former Sparta Prague ‘keeper’s lack of first-team action for Jose Mourinho’s side may make an Italian adventure an exciting proposition.
Cech seemingly added fuel to the fire on speculation of a possible move last month.
“There is no time for me to sit on the bench and not play,” the 32-year-old told Czech media.
“If the situation does not start to improve for me, then I will want to solve it.”
