Roma have been fined a total of €46,000 by UEFA for misconduct during their Europa Conference League semi-final second leg against Leicester City.

The Giallorossi won the match 1-0 through a Tammy Abraham goal to reach their first European final since 1984, where they beat Feyenoord 1-0.

UEFA published the reasons behind the punishment:

  • Roma received a €20,000 fine for throwing objects
  • An €18,000 fine for lighting fireworks
  • An €8,000 fine for blocking stairways

The Italian capital side were also given a warning due to time wasting from their ball kids.

Roma’s opponents Leicester were also fined €20,000 for throwing objects and €4,000 for lighting fireworks.

The Giallorossi are also under investigation for unsporting behaviour during their open-top bus parade following the victory.

Roma claimed their first European trophy since 1961 thanks to Nicolo Zaniolo’s first-half goal in the win over Feyenoord in Tirana.

It was the first season of the Conference League and last season’s sixth-place finish ensured Roma will be in the Europa League for the 2022-23 campaign.
