Roma are aiming to bring defensive reinforcements in during the summer transfer window, and could be tempted by Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi according to reports in Germany.

German outlet Kicker suggest that the Giallorossi have been monitoring the 25-year-old Dutchman for quite a while already. TMW add that Doekhi had been identified by former sporting director Tiago Pinto and that Roma had been looking at him in and around the January transfer window.

The central defender has been rated as Union Berlin’s best performer on an average rating of 3.47 out of a possible 5 by Kicker’s ranking system.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season, but as he looks unlikely to sign a new deal in the German capital, a move away this summer is an increasing possibility.

Kicker also suggest that a number of Serie A clubs could be interested in Doekhi, although Roma are the only team that have been mentioned specifically.

TMW have, however, played down the reports from Germany. They hint that as Doekhi was a Tiago Pinto target, and given that Pinto is no longer employed by Roma, Doekhi has fallen down Roma’s list of priorities for the summer.
