According to reports in Italy, Roma are in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Marco Verratti on loan with an option to buy.

The 30-year-old only recently signed a new contract until June 2026, but his situation at the club is no longer as crucial as it was, with even the fans not necessarily backing his future.

There had already been suggestions in Foot Mercato over the last few days that Verratti or Gianluigi Donnarumma would be offered to Manchester City as part of an exchange deal for Bernardo Silva.

Now Radio Radio suggest that Roma are in talks with PSG to take Verratti on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

It would be the Italy international’s Serie A debut, as he only ever played in Serie B for hometown club Pescara when snapped up by Paris Saint-Germain for €12m back in 2012.

Verratti has played 416 competitive matches for the French giants, scoring 11 goals and providing 61 assists.

Roma had already done a similar deal last summer for Gini Wijnaldum, but did not activate the option to buy after he spent most of the season out injured.
