Roma are looking to sign defender Felipe from Porto, according to reports in Portugal.

The 27-year-old centre back spent four years with Corinthians before moving to the Dragoes in the summer, and Portuguese newspaper A Bola reports that the Giallorossi are looking to bring Felipe to Rome.

The interest in the player may have orgininated from when Coach Luciano Spalletti had chance to watch the Brazilian closely back in August, during Roma's defeat to Porto over two legs in the Champions League playoffs.

There are huge doubts over the fitness of Thomas Vermaelen after he has remained out through injury since early September, and Felipe could prove to be the ideal replacement, should the Belgian return to parent club Barcelona as expected.
