Sky Sport Italia are certain Roma are in negotiations with Arsenal for Granit Xhaka, although the asking price of €25m is far beyond the €13m offer.

Jose Mourinho has long been an admirer of the Swiss international midfielder, who turns 29 in September.

He has been in London since 2016 after a huge transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach and is under contract until June 2023.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia, there are talks currently in progress with both the club and player.

However, Arsenal are demanding €25m for Xhaka, whereas Roma are hoping to spend approximately half that figure, offering €13m.

There could be an attempt to resolve the difference with a loan plus option to buy, but Mourinho has requested Xhaka to bolster his Giallorossi squad.

The player made 45 competitive appearances for Arsenal this season, contributing one goal and two assists.

He has 92 senior caps for Switzerland, where he is the captain, scoring 12 goals.
