Roma have reacted furiously to Jose Mourinho’s confirmed two-match touchline ban by refusing to allow any of their players or staff to speak to the media for the rest of the season.

The coach had insisted he was insulted first by fourth official Marco Serra during the 2-1 defeat to Cremonese, which prompted his response and dismissal.

He had won an appeal to suspend the sentence pending further investigation, allowing him to sit on the bench for the 1-0 win over Juventus.

However, the original two-match ban has now been confirmed by the Sporting Court of Appeal, so Mourinho will miss games against Sassuolo and Derby della Capitale rivals Lazio.

In reaction to that decision, Roma have taken action by barring their players and staff from giving interviews with the media either before or after Serie A matches.

They will still be forced to speak around the Europa League Round of 16 fixture with Real Sociedad, with the second leg in Spain next week, only because that is contractually obliged with UEFA.
