Roma are actively in talks to sign Real Betis defender Marc Bartra, who is their first choice to replace Kostas Manolas.

Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and Calciomercato.com all report Bartra’s agent met Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi on Thursday afternoon.

The Spaniard still has four years left on his contract with Betis but is understood to have an asking price of €15-20m.

The 28-year-old also has pedigree, with over 150 appearances for Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, as well as 14 international caps.
