Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly only a step away from joining Roma after there was a breakthrough in the talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

The French giants decided to transfer list the Dutch midfielder earlier this summer as they started a new project with Luis Campos and Christophe Galtier at the helm, despite the fact that he only joined the club on a free transfer last year.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Wijnaldum is now on the verge of joining Roma after PSG agreed to a loan deal with a buy option attached. The two parties are now working to establish how they’ll split his nearly €9m net per season salary.

The strong relationship between Dan Friedkin and Nasser Al-Khelaifi has made a difference and things have been moving positively ever since their meeting.

Roma are building a strong project in the Italian capital with Jose Mourinho and adding Wijnaldum to a squad that already contains Paulo Dybala, Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini only furthers their chances of securing a top four finish next season.

  1. Why? This is a very low cost operation for Roma and they are getting someone who is vice captain for Dutch NT and CL winner. I am not even a Roma fan and I am excited to see how much they have strengthened this season.

  2. Ab,
Who do you hate, the player, the club or his country?
The only thing looking horrible here is your comment
