More details are emerging on the deal bringing Diego Llorente from Leeds United to Roma, with reports it is a loan plus option to buy for €18m.

The defender already landed at Fiumicino Airport in Rome this afternoon and will have his medical tests in the morning at the Villa Stuart clinic.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Giallorossi agreed to take him on loan for six months at a cost of just €500,000.

There is also an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season for a further €18m.

Leeds paid €20m to buy Llorente from Real Sociedad in September 2020 and his contract with the Elland Road side runs to June 2026.

He made only 13 competitive appearances this season and was targeted by Jose Mourinho’s Roma for his versatility.

The Spain international, who has 10 senior caps under his belt, can play as a centre-back, a defensive midfielder or as a right-back.
