The Giallorossi have had a poor start to the Serie A season, though they have qualified for the Last 16 of the Champions League where they were drawn against Porto today.

“Roma must be Roma and face any opponent,” Baldissoni told Sky.

“Each of us would perhaps have chosen Porto, but it would be foolish not to be worried about this team when you see their points record in the group.

“We have to return to being Roma and face this tie with the serenity of a challenge we’re happy to be facing.

“The squad has potential that it isn’t expressing consistently. Even in the past few years we’ve had difficult moments, we’ve got unrealised potential.

“We’ve made more mistakes than in recent years, as well as a lot of injured players, and it’s more important to return to being the best Roma than to look at the next opponent.

“Di Francesco? It’s for you to point the finger at individual people, but we do our jobs as a collective. The important thing is to work and find solutions.

“The Coach is the first to be accused for technical matters, but the Coach who is on the bench now finished third and reached the Champions League semi-finals, so he’s shown he can coach this team.

“He’s had problems, including with injuries, and it’s difficult to find consistency in the face of that.

“There are players who, not least because of injuries, haven’t been able to perform at high levels. A lot of youngsters are proving their worth, because they’ve been very bold in dealing with difficult situations.”
