Roma have 23 players on the market

Roma are reportedly looking to get rid of 23 players and aim to save €36.7m, with former captain Alessandro Florenzi the most complicated case.

Sporting director Tiago Pinto has a busy summer, working to reinforce the squad of Jose Mourinho but must also find possible suitors for a long list of players deemed surplus at the Stadio Olimpico.

Many of them train separately, others are not registered after leaving the Primavera squad and Roma could, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Roma: Florenzi on the market, won’t join pre-season

The players with the highest gross salaries waiting for a possibility elsewhere are Javier Pastore, Steven Nzonzi, Florenzi, Federico Fazio, Pedro Rodriguez, Davide Santon, Robin Olsen, Ante Coric and William Bianda.

Those nine players cost Roma €36.7m a season and are part of the reported list of players the club want to get rid of.

The most complicated case is surely the one of Florenzi, who didn’t travel to Portugal to join the group together with Bryan Cristante and Eldor Shomurodov.

After the coronavirus tests he remained in the capital and started training at Trigoria yesterday. The Azzurri star doesn’t want to be the second choice behind Rick Karsdorp next season and Roma hope to get rid of his big salary, but no concrete offers have arrived.

The list includes a host of youngsters that could depart this summer, and Tiago Pinto surely has a big job in hand.
