Daniele De Rossi confirms he had to replace Paulo Dybala due to a minor injury: ‘I hope he stopped in time.’
Dybala was subbed off at minute 73 at the Stadio Franchi on Sunday in Roma’s 2-2 draw against Fiorentina.
De Rossi initially said Dybala was taken out because he felt tired: “He was substituted because he felt tired, but I don’t think it was anything muscular,” DDR told DAZN.
However, during a post-match press conference, the Roma boss admitted Dybala had suffered a minor injury.
“It was a physical issue, he asked to be subbed off, but I think it’s nothing serious,” said the ex-Italy international, as quoted by TMW.
“It’s understandable because has hasn’t always played so many games for so long in his career. I always demand great responsibility because sometimes you can miss two months [of action] if you play five extra minutes. I hope he stopped in time, Baldanzi did well.”
According to TMW, Dybala’s condition will be assessed in the coming hours.
Roma return to the pitch on Thursday at Brighton’s Amex Stadium in the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16.
The Giallorossi secured a 4-0 win against Roberto De Zerbi’s side in the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico last week.
Dybala has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 28 games across all competitions this season. His contract with the Giallorossi expires in June 2025.
