Roma are particularly frustrated with Nicolo Zaniolo’s behaviour because they’d already lined up a replacement in Dusan Tadic, reports suggest.

The 23-year-old Italian forward asked for a move away from the Giallorossi earlier this month and requested to be excluded from the matchday squad for the Spezia clash in a bid to push through a departure.

Zaniolo was keen to join the interested Milan, but they failed to find a deal with Roma. Anger began to boil over after the 23-year-old rejected an offer from Bournemouth, who had already agreed the terms of a deal with the Giallorossi.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Roma were ready to sell Zaniolo and replace him with Ajax captain Tadic, who only has 18 months left on his deal with the Eredivisie giants.

With only a few days left in the January transfer window, Roma now look destined to hold onto the unhappy 23-year-old until the summer, when a sale is likely.
