Amadou Diawara has again blocked Roma transfer plans by rejecting a move to Cagliari, but Ebrima Darboe could make the switch instead.

The Giallorossi have been trying to bring in another midfielder after Sergio Oliveira in the January transfer window, but knew they’d have to move Diawara on first.

That has proved extremely difficult, as despite being linked with numerous clubs, the 24-year-old Guinea international has snubbed them all.

Sampdoria, Torino, Valencia, Eintracht Frankfurt and above all Cagliari were all interested and it looks increasingly as if he’ll remain at the Olimpico.

According to Teleradiostereo, there still could be a deal between Roma and Cagliari for 20-year-old midfielder Darboe instead.

The Gambia international has been linked with a Belgian transfer for RSC Anderlecht and Serie A strugglers Salernitana after making only five competitive appearances for Roma this season.

A product of the Giallorossi youth academy, he would be on loan for the rest of the campaign.
