Roma are reportedly down to the details with Arsenal for Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka, at a cost of €15m plus bonuses.

New coach Jose Mourinho immediately identified Xhaka as his ideal signing for the Giallorossi and he has been enthusiastic about the move from the get-go, but negotiating a transfer fee with Arsenal proved to be tricky.

The initial offer was €10m and the asking price had been €20m, but both have taken steps towards each other and Calciomercato.com are confident a deal is imminent.

That would be €15m plus up to €2.5m in performance-related bonuses, which are relatively easy to fulfil.

Like goalkeeper Rui Patricio, Xhaka is also seemingly ready to cut his summer vacation short after UEFA EURO 2020 in order to be part of Roma’s pre-season training camp.

Personal terms with the player were agreed weeks ago, a four-year contract worth €2.5m per season plus bonuses, and the only issue was Arsenal’s asking price.
