Roma fans held up a huge poetic banner urging Jose Mourinho to sign a new contract, calling him a ‘Romanista for life.’

The coach is only legally tied to the club until the end of the current campaign, which is his third in the Eternal City.

There was a large banner held up during the first half of their match against Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.

‘The eyes inebriated with Giallorossi colours. The soul pervaded by Romanism. Jose Mourinho Romanista for life!’

The Special One reacted by waving a hand for them to calm down, as it was very early into the game and Romelu Lukaku had only just given them the lead.

This message came after a week in which Mourinho hit the headlines for criticising referee Matteo Marcenaro, suggesting the official did not have the “emotional stability” to deal with their match against Sassuolo.

Mou was called in for an in-person meeting with FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné to clarify his statements and it seems as if that was enough to avoid another touchline ban.
