Roma fans aim racist abuse at Ibrahimovic and Kessie

Roma face possible disciplinary action after several incidents of racist abuse aimed at Milan players Franck Kessie and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The chants were clearly audible during the television coverage of the match at the Stadio Olimpico.

Just before Ibrahimovic fired in the free kick to open the scoring, the Roma ultras had been chanting ‘You are a gypsy’.

The Swede, who is of Balkan origins, turned to the fans and urged them to sing it louder after scoring the goal, earning him a yellow card for goading the home supporters.

There were also racist ‘monkey noises’ heard as Kessie stepped up to convert the penalty for 2-0.

It is not the first time that Roma fans have been accused of racist abuse and the club could risk further disciplinary action.

There had already been racist and territorial discrimination chants during the recent 0-0 home draw against Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico as well.
