Roma contacted Bayern Munich to explore a move for Marcel Sabitzer, but serious obstacles could cause talks to collapse.

The Giallorossi reportedly approached the Bundesliga giants last month to start sounding out a move for the 29-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Manchester United.

Roma are looking to revamp their midfield this summer and are considering a number of possible options, with Jose Mourinho ready to welcome reinforcements.

Gianluca Di Marzio highlights how Roma have not managed to make any progress for Sabitzer as talks with Bayern have barely gotten off the ground.

The Austrian midfielder wants to stay with the Bavarian giants for another year, keen to prove himself, and the club would prefer to sell him outright rather than agree to a loan deal, which was the Giallorossi’s hope.

Roma are now considering their options and could decide to walk away, paying focus to other targets.
