Roma are looking for a new centre back and are reportedly looking to pick up Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof.
The 28-year-old Swedish defender is quietly one of the more consistent players at a struggling Red Devils, usually putting in fairly solid performances despite the team’s general issues. Lindelof has not appeared in either of Manchester United’s opening two Premier League matches and with a contract expiring in 2024, he could depart still this month.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Jose Mourinho is a fan of Lindelof, remembering him well from their time together in the North West of England, and he’s keen to add the Swedish defender to his Roma squad.
Sporting director Tiago Pinto has reportedly already been in contact with the player’s agents and he’s hoping to sign the 28-year-old on a loan deal with a buy option attached, which could be set at around €15m.
Lindelof is a tactically flexible defender, able to play in the centre or on the right, as well as in a defensive midfielder role.
