Roma are taking various steps to make it absolutely clear that Nicolò Zaniolo will never play for them again, even removing his locker and photograph.

The Italy international put in a transfer request in January, then the situation broke down completely when he asked not to be called up for any more games.

He refused the only firm offer on the table from Bournemouth and this infuriated the Giallorossi, who declared he would no longer he part of their project.

This means he may well be left in the stands until a sale can be agreed in the summer or even until his contract runs down in June 2024.

According to La Repubblica, Roma are determined to erase Zaniolo from the record books, the Trigoria training ground and Stadio Olimpico locker room.

They have removed his name and photograph from the Trigoria locker room and Zaniolo has already left the Eternal City, driving in the middle of the night to the family home in La Spezia after receiving threats from ultras in front of his house.

Roma already faced criticism from FIFPro for their treatment of Rick Karsdorp, another situation that has not been resolved.

  1. How childish do you have to be to threaten a man and his family because he won’t kick a football for your particular football club? Some folks are lost causes.
