A string of substitutions followed from both teams, with Di Francesco replacing his entire starting line-up over the course of proceedings.

The scoreline remained the same until the final 10 minutes, with Kevin Strootman firing home from close range to halve Roma’s deficit.

However, the Stadio Olimpico side could not find an equaliser as they tasted defeat in their final match of this summer’s International Champions Cup.
